Date: February 1, 2026 Theme: Possessing God’s Wisdom Passage: 1 Corinthians 2:6–16   Three facets of God’s Wisdom: 1. God’s wisdom remains distinct from the wisdom of this age (6–9). How? a. It is a mystery (7): i. Hidden ii. Predetermined iii. Effects our glorification b. It is incomprehensible to this age’s wisdom and powers (8–9). 2. God’s wisdom is accessed through God’s Spirit (10–13). Why? a. The Spirit knows God thoroughly (10–11). b. We have received this Spirit from God (12–13). Results: i. We can know what God has freely given (12b). ii. We can Spiritually teach, explaining Spiritual things to    Spiritual people (13). 3. God’s wisdom exudes from those possessed by God’s Spirit (14–16). Conclusions: a Unbelievers can’t receive the things of God’s Spirit (14). i. Spiritual truths are foolish to them. ii. They can’t know because such things are Spiritually discerned. b. The Spirit-indwelled can discern truth (15). c. We have Christ’s mind because we have God’s indwelling Spirit (16).  Main Idea: The message of the Gospel remains God’s wisdom that empowers us Spiritually for life and ministry.   Application Questions: ·     How would you characterize the wisdom of this age and its powers? Which of these have you battled in your own thinking about God and this world? ·     In what ways does the world find God’s wisdom in the Gospel to be foolish? How are we to respond to this? ·     What benefits does Paul list here concerning the Spirit’s work in our lives as believers? ·     What difficulties and dangers can arise in our church ministry if we minimize our dependence on the Spirit? ·     What does Paul mean when he says that we have the mind of Christ? What might the implications of this be for us as individuals and as a church body?
