Theme: Summary on Gifts 2 Passage: 1 Corinthians 12–14 Main Idea: The Spirit builds up our church to reflect Christ by giving us differing gifts that we must use. 1. Significance of your Spiritual Gift(s): - God has provided us with our gifts, service, and works for His kingdom (12:4–6, 18). - You have no valid excuse for not using your gift (12:12–30). - Your part has incredible value to the whole (12:7, 27). - The church requires the combination of its many different parts for the body to be seen and to function (12:18–20). - We must foster mutual concern for one another so that there is no division (12:25). 2. Discovery of your Spiritual Gift(s): - Desire and seek the most beneficial gifts (12:31). - Pursue love (14:1) toward one another. - Seek to excel in service or speech that builds up the church (14:12, 26, 40). Application Questions: 1. In the sermon, we looked at Matthew 25:14–30, the parable of the talents. What challenged you about your own life in what you are to be doing now considering Christ’s coming kingdom? 2. What excuses enter your mind when it comes to exercising your spiritual gift(s)? How can these be overcome? 3. Why is it important to understand the immense value of God’s grace given to us as members of Christ’s body? 4. How are you putting to use God’s grace given to you within this body of believers? 5. What step(s) do you need to take to discover your gift and put it to use within this church body?
