Theme: Church Posture Passage: 1 Corinthians 16:13–24 As Paul closed his first letter to the Corinthian church, he called them to emulate certain behaviors toward Christ and one another. Posture of a Christ-centered church: 1. Readiness (13a) 2. Resolve (13b–d) a. tand firm in the faith b. Be courageous c. Be strong 3. Imitation of Godly Leadership (15–18) a. Submission to servant leaders (15–16) b. Appreciation of servant leaders (17–18) 4. Love for one another (14) a. Familial bond (19–20) b. Desire to please the Lord (22) c. Commitment to one another amid confrontation (24) Main Idea: Genuine relationship with Christ will be seen in our treatment of one another. Application Questions: 1. How can we live out the commands Paul gave in v. 13? How do we do so alongside one another within the church body? 2. From the information given in vv. 15–18, why is it important to submit and show appreciation to those God has chosen to lead us? What are practical ways in which we can imitate them and express our gratitude? 3. Amid all the positive commands that he gave at the end of the letter, why do you think Paul gave such a strong condemnation to one who does not love the Lord (22)? 4. How is the church like a family (19–20)? 5. How can we demonstrate our commitment to one another even when conflict or confrontation takes place?
